Where are you based?
We are located in the centre of Bristol. Our address is 13-17 Dove Lane, Newfoundland Road, Bristol, BS2 9HS.
What metals do you work with?
We work with a range of metals, including:
- Mild steel.

- 304 stainless steel.

Our services include working with metals between 1 mm and 3 mm thickness, cut and bending metals up to 3 metres, and TIG, MIG, DC/AC and MMA welding.
What is 304 and 316 stainless steel?
304 stainless steel is a catering grade steel for use as worktops, splash backs and other indoor use. 316 stainless steel is a marine grade steel for use outdoors and in marine environments for handrails, brackets and fittings.
Do you have any certificates?
F. C. Hammonds has been awarded a British Board of Agrément Certificate number 14/F124. Under the Construction Products Regulations 2014, all metal components for ‘permanent incorporation’ into structures must be manufactured to BS EN 1090 standards and supplied with a CE mark certificate. To help you stay within these regulations F. C. Hammonds has obtained a certification to show that we are producing goods that comply with all the necessary regulations. We are able to produce steel, stainless and aluminium parts to BS EN 1090 standard and supply a CE marking certificate to that effect for each job. We are able to work up to execution class 2 on any parts that are not welded.
What is your minimum charge?
Our minimum charge is £25.00
Can you do CE marked steelwork to BS EN 1090?
Yes, for non welded parts up to execution class 2 EG agricultural buildings, residential or commercial structures.
How long do your services take?
The duration of our services depends on a range of factors including the difficulty, scale and type of project we are working on. However, we always aim to complete our work as quickly as possible, as we can offer same-day turnarounds on urgent repairs.
What size hole can you punch in sheet metal?
We can punch holes up to 73 mm in diameter.
What is shearing?
Shearing is the process we use to cut sheet metal. We can cut up to 3m long, 3mm thick and we can do other thicknesses on special request.
What is welding?
Welding is the process that joins metals together by heating both until the ends become molten. Pressure and heat can both be used to produce a weld. We are specialists in TIG and MIG welding.
